Letter from Estelle Faguette to Mary: You have not forgotten that I am your child and that I love you. Restore my body to health. Consider the sorrow of my parents. You know very well that they depend wholly on me. May I not finish the work I have begun? If, because of my sins, you cannot grant me a complete cure, at least obtain for me a degree of strength and health that will enable me to earn enough to support myself and my parents. You see, my death Mother, that they are almost reduced to begging their bread. Think of all that you yourself endured on the night our Saviour was born, when you were obliged to go from door to door seeking shelter. Think of your suffering when Jesus was nailed to the Cross. I put my trust in You, my good Mother …. My family needs me so badly. …
Tuesday, February 15: Have courage and be patient … You will suffer for another five days … On Saturday you will either be dead or cured. … If my Son should grant you life, it is my wish that you make My glory known.
February 16: Fear not; My Son will grant your prayers. He will grant your prayers. He will restore you to health, and on Saturday you will be cured.
But my dear Mother, if the choice were mine, I would rather die now that I am well prepared.
Do not be ungrateful. If My Son restores you to life, it is for your own good. You will not be exempt from suffering; but it is in suffering that merit in life is obtained.§ A secret was also confided this day
February 17: I am all merciful and I have the key to My Son’s heart. … What touched me most in the letter you wrote me in September were the words: “Consider the sorrow of my parents … they are almost reduced to begging their bread.”
February 18: Have no fear; you are My child, and My Son has been touched by your resignation.
February 19: Estelle was completely cured: The soul can be saved in whatever walk of life. Where you are, you will be able to do much good and to make My glory known.
July 1: Be calm, My child; have patience. You will have suffering to bear, but I am with you.
July 2-3 nighttime: You are in need of rest and I shall stay with you but a moment.
September 9: You deprived yourself of My visit on August 15, because you were too upset. You are very French in your wish to know everything without the labor of learning it. For a long time My Son’s treasury been open. If people would only pray! Then Our Lady lifted up the piece of white wool that She wore on Her breast, and Estelle saw that a red heart was imprinted on the material. The Scapular of the Sacred Heart, she though. Then, passing between sentences, Our Lady said: Love this devotion. By it I will be honored.
September 10 (While the Vesper bells were ringing) If only people would pray! I give them the example.
September 15: I have noted the attempt you are making to regain serenity. … There is not that serenity in the Church as a whole that I wish to see in it. … France will suffer.
November 4: I have chosen you for the sake of My glory I have chosen the little and the weak.
November 11: Estelle had made a scapular such as she had seen: You have not been wasting your time today; you have worked for Me. … You must make many more.
December 8 (15th and last) You shall see Me no more. I have selected you to spread My glory and to make this devotion known. You are to go to the Bishop and show him the scapular you have made. Behold the graces I will grant to those who wear it with confident faith.
